It’s  90% of the formula.

Why are headlines so important? The answer is that as much as 90 percent of the reason people respond to a sales message is because of what they see in the headline (or what they hear in the opening statement of a salesman too!)

Realise please that you only have 4 seconds maximum, to capture your prospect’s attention. And getting attention is becoming more difficult every day as people are bombarded with more and more messages from an almost overwhelming array of media blitz.

Just think for a moment how you read a newspaper – you scan to see if there are any articles you might be interested in reading. It takes only seconds for you to scan each page. Now when you stop at an article of interest to you what makes you do this? Is it the editorial content or the headline? The headline may well be written in an editorial style, but it is always the headline that grabs your attention and makes you stop and read further. It’s the headline that captures the reader’s attention always.

Consider your headline as an ad for your ad. A good headline doesn’t cost any more than a bad one, so it makes sense to learn how to write them. Right?

You see, bad news is much louder than good news… I don’t know why that is, it is a terrible shame but it is just the way the world operates today. Turn on the news, what do you hear? Stories of beautiful people, marriages, heroic acts, generous donations, happy families? No of course you don’t, it is all death, war and destruction… Yes, I know these things have to be reported but when was the last time you watched the nightly news and went to bed feeling happy about the world?

Celeb magazines (Don’t get me started on these)… Full of stories of arguments, angry splits, hatred and jealousy…

Gossip…The very word gossip basically means ‘boring people prattling on about other peoples problems and misfortunes’ …

What often happens is that when someone tries a business opportunity and it goes t*ts up they tell the world and its wife…They moan, they groan, they sob into their pint glass… They hang about in online forums mouthing off about how they’ve been ripped off and how they’ve not made a penny…When a lot of the time it is the individuals naivety and lack of determination that was at the root of the failure.

Now, I’m not saying that there aren’t shoddy schemes, feeble opportunities disguised by glossy pictures and well written sales material, scams and ‘dream stealers’ out there because there are…They are out there and when considering a business opportunity or anything that claims you can make quick, easy, guaranteed money… You need to be careful because you could get your fingers burnt…

Looking back over the last year, our predictions for 2007 were fairly accurate (even a little pessimistic). We stated that the market would slow down but increase by around 5-6%. That is what happened and that figure was in fact exceeded slightly although prices have started to fall slightly in the last 2 months.
